Learn-to-Hunt Program works for Little Boy and ends up with a Big Turkey

This 11-year-old from Verona, Wisconsin shot a very big turkey during the Learn-to-Hunt session before the regular season opened in mid-April. The little boy shot the bird with a 20-gauge shotgun and was about 30.11 pounds which would have placed the turkey on the list of heaviest birds recorded for Wisconsin. But the weight of the bird was not from an official scale and it took the father of the boy the next day to find scale. By that time when they weighed the bird it was only at 28.95 pounds.

The article doesn't state, if they are going to expect the 30.11 pounds or the 28.95 pounds. At least the boy got to experience something awesome and will hopefully remember this. Plus the family has decided to have a full mount done, so the little boy will be able to see what he first time ever hunting was like.

Hopefully he will continue to go turkey hunting and possible give some other hunting a try.

Does your state have a Learn-to-Hunt program or something like it?
